Biography

Nia Muhammad is a Postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) Fellow at the National Institutes of Health. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from Stanford University. Her research focuses on host–microbe and virus–microbiome interactions, with an emphasis on understanding how bacterial pathogens influence viral persistence and cancer progression. Nia integrates molecular biology, epidemiology, and mass-spectrometry-based approaches to study HPV-associated disease. She is a Gates Millennium Scholar and is interested in pursuing a career in academic medicine centered on translational research, reproductive health, and health equity.
